Published studies have examined it in toothpastes for remineralization, sensitivity, stain removal, and caries—results depend on the formula. 01 How does hydroxyapatite compare with fluoride?
Hydroxyapatite is a fluoride-free alternative with growing clinical evidence. In one 18-month adult study, a 10% HAp toothpaste was non-inferior to 1450 ppm fluoride for the study's primary caries endpoint. 02 Why nano and micro hydroxyapatite?
Nano and micro refer to particle-size ranges. Published ingredient research examines how smaller particles interact with microscopic defects and dentinal tubules, while larger particles remain closer to the tooth surface. 03 Can children use it?
For children under 3, use a rice-grain amount; for ages 3–6, use a pea-sized amount. A caregiver should supervise brushing and encourage children to spit rather than intentionally swallow.
